The oil composition and function

The composition of the oil can be divided into two main parts which are the “base oil” and “additive”. Base oil is the main ingredient that determines the basic properties of oil in food additives, make up and so on.

Base oil is divided into two categories which consists of “mineral base oil” and “synthetic base oil”. Mineral base oil is made from crude oil, the mineral base oil with ester or polyalkene to replace, is a synthetic base oil. If the base oil esters or polygene class to replace completely, is a fully synthetic engine oil. If only partial, it is half a synthetic engine oil. Mineral-based oil is most widely used, in addition to vegetable and animal (because of few production reasons).

The role of engine oil in an engine

True and false identification
Look at the oil seal packaging. Regular brands have a sealing flap on a one-off lid with gaps that are foil-sealed. The manufacturers’ foils have a tight and special markers and the tin foil seal has a circle mark. Without these characteristics, the oil is most likely a counterfeit product.

Observe the oil color. Normally, qualified oil has a light transparent color without any impurities, suspended solids, and sediments. Fake oil often is darker in color and may contain impurities or sediments, besides having less liquid sloshing around when shook.

Check the smell of the oil. Certified oil almost has no sensitive or distinct smell as it has a light faint scent. Fake oil has an obvious disgusting smell.
